FAQ

Pilates is a type of mind-body exercise developed in the early 20th century by German physical trainer Joseph Pilates, after whom it was named. Pilates called his method “Contrology”

Pilates aligns your entire body’s overall structure and supports its joints. What appears to look simple can be deceptively challenging and incredibly effective when done correctly with good form.

Pilates, in our opinion, should be done for a minimum of 3 times per week. However, to further improve your body’s strength, flexibility and endurance, you can do up to 4 or 5 Pilates classes a week

We recommend starting with our Reformer 101 class. Reform 101 is specifically designed for individuals who have never worked on the reformer and serves as an excellent starting point for beginners like you. We welcome newcomers and look forward to helping you get started on your Pilates journey.

Pilates can be highly beneficial during pregnancy when tailored to the specific needs of expectant mothers. Group classes may not be accessible during pregnancy, but they can be a valuable option during the postpartum period. For natural deliveries, it is generally advisable to wait for approximately 6 weeks after giving birth, provided you have obtained clearance from your doctor. In the case of a C-section, it is recommended to wait for around 3 months post-surgery, again with the necessary doctor’s clearance. This tailored approach ensures that Pilates can be a safe and effective fitness option for new mothers before and after childbirth.

If you have an injury, we highly recommend consulting your doctor first and obtaining clearance before participating in physical workouts. For safety reasons, if your injury requires significant modifications, we may need to limit participation in group classes.

To help us better accommodate your needs, please inform your instructor of any injuries in advance. This allows our instructors to make appropriate adjustments and ensure a safe, effective workout tailored to your circumstances. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities.
