Before you apply
Questions, answered.
Do I need prior Pilates experience?
You need a real interest in movement and a willingness to work. A regular Pilates practice helps. We talk through your starting point on a call before you commit.
Is Mat included, or do I need it separately?
Mat is built into the program and comes first. The four Mat weekends run October 3 to October 25 and finish with a Mat certification test-out. Reformer follows from November 7 to December 20. The Mat foundation is what makes Reformer work safe and intelligent, so we do not skip it.
How much is tuition?
The program is $3,900 all-in. Pay in full on or before October 2 and the price is $3,510, a saving of 10 percent. A payment plan is available at the standard price with up to 10 installments. No hidden fees, no exam fees.
What is the time commitment?
Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with a 30 minute break. That is 100 in-person hours across ten weekends, plus 125 independent hours of observation, self-practice, class attendance, and practice teaching. You get free studio access to complete those hours.
Is the certification recognized?
Yes. The curriculum is the NPCP recognized Pilates Education Institute comprehensive Mat and Reformer program, including workbooks and an online study portal. Graduates are fully credentialed to teach in any professional studio.
Do I need insurance to participate?
Yes. Students must hold their own student-teacher insurance, which is the industry standard for liability. It typically costs $20 to $80 a year and takes minutes to arrange. You will add YA FIT Pilates, Inc. as an additional insured, which does not add cost to your policy. We send guidance on this before the program starts.
Can I teach at YA FIT after graduating?
Strong graduates are considered first. Several current YA FIT instructors trained with us. There is no guarantee, but we hire from our own pipeline whenever a slot opens.
