What Happens at Your First Class

Here is what to expect from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave.

Arrive 10 Minutes Early

For your first class, plan to arrive 10 minutes before the session starts. Your instructor will introduce you to the studio, walk you through the Reformer, explain the basic setup, and make sure you feel settled before class begins. This is not optional — it is part of how we set every new member up for success.

The Class Itself

YA FIT classes run at 10 reformers maximum. That small class size is intentional — it means your instructor can see you, correct your form, and guide your progressions in real time. You will never be left wondering if you are doing something correctly. Every modification and every progression is prepared before you walk in. The class moves at a steady pace with clear verbal cues throughout.

What You Will Feel Afterward

After your first class, most people feel a combination of surprised and sore. Surprised because Pilates works muscles you did not know you had. Sore for the same reason. Both are good signs. The soreness typically appears the next day and fades within 48 hours. By your third or fourth class, your body begins to adapt and the real strength gains start to show.

What to Wear and Bring

Wear form-fitting athletic clothing that allows for a full range of movement. Loose or baggy clothing can get caught in the Reformer equipment. Grip socks are required for safety and hygiene on the Reformer — if you do not have a pair, they are available for purchase at the front desk. Bring a water bottle. All Reformer equipment and towels are provided.
